We’ve had feedback that busy clinicians sometimes feel overwhelmed when faced with a large number of educational resources, so we’ve chosen just one CPD course to promote:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis: free online CPD module composed of 10 clinical cases assessing your knowledge of ME/CFS, recently updated to include long Covid. UK.
In case this resource isn’t right for you – perhaps you’re not based in the UK, or perhaps you prefer to read a paper or watch a video – please choose one of the resources below instead. They all cover similar material, so you only need one:
Journal articles and written guides:
- Diagnosis and Management of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Stephanie L. Grach, Jaime Seltzer, Tony Y. Chon, Ravindra Ganesh. Mayo Clinic Proceedings. This one is particularly well-written, concise, and has nice diagrams!
- What Primary Care Practitioners Need to Know about the New NICE Guideline for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in Adults. Kingdon, C.; Lowe, A.; Shepherd, C.; Nacul, L. Healthcare 2022, 10, 2438.
- ME/CFS Information for Healthcare Providers; Center for Disease Control; US.
- Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Adult & Pediatric: International Consensus Primer for medical practitioners. The International Consensus Primer (ICP) is the most globally authoritative document on ME. It is written for both clinicians and researchers, and provides a globally accepted definition of ME which allows researchers to work from a shared understanding of the condition.
Videos:
- Diagnosis of paediatric ME/CFS with Dr Nigel Speight and Prof Peter Rowe. 14 min, 12 min. Two world renown ME/CFS paediatricians, Prof Peter Rowe and Dr Nigel Speight, discuss paediatric ME/CFS diagnosis and management in two short videos for medical professionals. The style is relaxed and conversational, yet the videos are packed with useful information. Very highly recommended!
